The School Meal Scheme is a special programme that offers free fruit, vegetables and milk products to primary school students. The main idea of the program is to - along with educational activities - teach students about healthy eating habits, local food, organic farming, and reducing food waste. At our school, we will be giving out fresh and locally produced fruit or vegetables as an extra snack on Thursdays every week. This will be in addition to the regular school meal.
You can find more information on the official website.

All students within the school district who live more than 4 km away from school or whose
journey is dangerous are offered free transport to school in a van. First graders must always be accompanied by an adult on their way to and from school. They may also be accompanied by older students (over 10 years old) with parental permission. In designated safe zones (traffic-calming and pedestrian zones), first graders can come to school unaccompanied if their parents, guardians or foster parents give permission.
SAFE JOURNEY TO SCHOOL
Schools and parents work together to educate children about traffic safety and set a good example.
Parents should practice crossing the road with their child before letting them cross it alone.
Children must always wear a helmet when cycling.
Children should walk on the pavement. If there is no pavement, they should walk on the left side, allowing them to see approaching vehicles and react accordingly.
First-grade parents are encouraged to accompany their child to school and teach them about traffic rules and potential hazards. Students (including first graders) are encouraged to wear yellow armbands and reflectors for increased visibility.
Children under 150 cm must use a child safety seat, while those above 150 cm must use a seat belt. In cases where child seats cannot be installed, children under 12 years old should sit in the back seat. Always use seat belts and child safety seats.
Students cycling to school should only ride fully equipped bicycles. They must wear a safety helmet and have passed a cycling test. Students should put their bicycles in the bicycle stand.
The school, however, is not responsible for bicycles.
We advise against bringing scooters, roller skates, skateboards, and motorbikes to school.

For students who need extra help, remedial lessons are provided. There are no remedial lessons
for grade 8 and grade 9 students, since they already attend Slovene, Maths and English in
smaller groups.
Students who wish to broaden their knowledge and prepare for competitions can take extra
lessons in each subject.
Every day, from 7:30 to 8:30, morning care is organised for grade 1-3 students.
Every day, until 15:15, grade 1-5 students can join the afternoon programme under the guidance
of a teacher. If needed, grade 1-3 students have the option to prolong their stay, until 16:30.
If a student or their parents believe that the student was incorrectly assessed at the end of the school year, they can submit a written appeal within three days of receiving the certificate.
During the school year, parents can inquire about their child's grades during the teachers' office hours.
A student who has failed a subject in the first semester will be reassessed in that subject during the second semester. The deadline for reassessment is within the first week following the winter holidays. If a student has not passed their first-semester exams by the start of the second semester, they can retake them during the first week after the spring break, provided they have successfully completed their second-semester exams. If not, they will need to take a final, make-up exam.
